Hi there,

i'm a new emby user, just trying to explore the emby media server option at home after hearing a lot of good word. For some reason i'm unable to see my content on the Android TV. The app i've downloaded and when i launch it shows "emby" user and asks me to enter the password. No option to bypass it

Does it require the paid subscription? if no, then i've also tried using my emby community credentials but no go.

TO clarify, on pc browser i can access my emby media content and that's working great. In order to resolve the same over LAN i also checked the option to ignore asking for credentials over internal network... :(

Any advice about the TV App ?

Is there a reason  you are on a OLD server?  But a guess would be new client can not authenticate with old server.

Info App: Application version: 4.3.1.0

well, this is the App that came up when searched as "emby"

usually with this Android TV if the app is outdated. i get to see option to update it and then launch. but this is what it is in this case.

Thanks for jumping on

What link did you use that gave you that old server version?

You want to download the new version of the server which you can get here
https://emby.media/download.html

Follow the links on that page for any clients you need as well.

In looking at your log file I see you setup a library pointing to a torrent folder.  You really don't want to do this as these are "work in progress downloads" and won't have correct names and really not what you want.  Do any downloading then rename your files properly and move them to the proper library folder.

Here are a couple knowledge base articles to have a look at so you get started with the correct folder structures and file naming.

Here's a good overview that links you to other articles

OK, the log you provided is showing server version 4.3.1. The latest version is 4.5.4. What version of the server do you have now? What version does it show in the Emby web interface?

i personally think the issue is with the server itself. may be my bad on the credentials. but that again shouldn't be the case.

Any way i can open the settings related to user credentials ?

whenever i try to click on users it doesn't let me go there....other tabs/buttons/sections i can click on

There are many utils like filebot, Bulk Rename Utility, The Renamer, etc that can make quick work of creating the proper folder structure and file renaming so this doesn't need to be a manual process.

I personally use filebot which works well for me but it's just one choice of many.

A question i have, appears to be i'm outdated a bit and was sleeping with plex on for years. But since that has been disappointing me with weird ui changes and inconsistencies.. i came on here and like it.

Is there a way for me to choose myself which port i want my emby server to play on....other than 8096

Appreciate your all help.

Absolutely.  You can set both local and remote ports for normal and SSL connections in the NETWORK menu.

Hi.  Yes.  Investigate the "Network" settings in your server dashboard.

Yes, Android TV full playback requires Emby Premiere or purchasing an in-app unlock.

Emby Premiere Feature Matrix : Emby

Cool. Will see if it's the winner at last.

small observation - let's say in my directory i got 900+ movies and when i scroll down it's kinda walking in the dark literally. Again i think it could be still working on the posters/metadata downloading still. will check and figure it out.

Thanks a lot guys. you're very helpful.

Truly like this community and overwhelming support.

Yes, depending on the configuration of the library this may take a while.
