Emby 2.0.0.9g Sound Issues

Hi,

Just reporting a possible bug.

Server version 4.5.4.0

I've got a family member using a certified android box (for the last 2 years). Connected to a to a TV via HDMI. Internal TV speakers are used for sound.

Android box is set to PCM
And LN for Dolby.

Playing almost anything that uses a surround sound coded ie. Dolby+ causes playback to have no sound. (Direct Playing)
The new update has less Audio settings from what I can tell.

Ended up reverting to 1.8.55g and the issue is gone. Upgraded back to 2.0.0.9g just to confirm I can reproduce the issue.

I will of course follow up with logs. (On mobile atm)

Hi.  Exactly what does that mean?

Sorry,

Sound Output has a selection of
HDMI - RAW
SPDIF - RAW
PCM <-- Selected.

Dolby Sound has the options of
RF
LN <-- Selected
OFF

These are the options within the android sounds settings.

There is also an option for Surround.
Which can be set to Auto or Off.
I have tried both.

----
All that said, it works with the previous post settings settings on 1.8.55 and previous versions.

Those are non-standard option so I'm not sure exactly how they behave.  Also no idea what RF or LN are in relation to Dolby but it seems to contradict the setting of PCM in your normal output setting.

I would try HDMI-RAW and see what happens...

Fair enough.
I have tried pretty much every possible combination of those settings without success.

Fact stays that 1.8.55 work 100% for those settings, and always have.
Hopefully the logs will reveal more. 🙂

Ok, once you're able to send a log example we'll be able to look at specific scenario. Thanks.

I have similar problems. The sound became just stereo. It does not play Dolbi Atmos and almost all other formats that were played correctly before the update. Now everything is downmixed to stereo :( !!!

Same here, but this is a custom Android TV build for X96 Max. It worked with previous stable, now it looks like everything is being transcoded (on device) to DD+ which the device doesn’t seem to be capable off. I‘ll provide logs tomorrow.

That's not happening so let's please look at details of an example.  Thanks.

Hi all,

The latest update for Android TV version of EMBY has issues with sound playback, as per the first comment on this. There is literally no longer sound for playing the same audio that was playing.

This issue is bypassed by using VLC player so definitely can confirm the issue is with the latest EMBY update.

Please review and update to fix the sound issue.

Thank you.

I saw that issue of a friend of mine. Now I plugged in a x96 max here to send you the log files. But unfortunately here the settings appear lol.

did you update the emby package without increasing it’s version (v2.0.09?)

I attached it to an AVR, my friend to a tv. I’ll plug it to my tv to compare...

Make sure you have the DEBUG option enabled in the app.

Ok when the box is connected to TV directly I eee the issue.

There’s NO setting in playback settings regarding down mixing to stereo or dts support. It was there when the box was connected to AVR.

There’s no sound for Dolby movies here, stats for nerds show

DOLBY (direct)

For DTS there’s sound here but if I remember correctly there wasn’t sound either at my friends. Guess it is about DTS capabilities of the TVs...

I just sent a report, user name is bRnc2E

This depends on the device chain (rather, the audio capabilities of the devices in the chain.) The same Shield connected to different TVs and AVRs, shows different audio options for me.

Perhaps I did, but your original post was a bit confusing 😃

Never mind, you have supplied logs now.
