pritch33 5
Wondering if anybody knows of an add on or work around for getting radio to work in WMC? The TV card is a WinFast DTV 2000 DS Plus and TV works fine but the Radio is not recognised at all. The little I have found suggests it pretty much a hit and miss when it comes to running radio but thought someone may have a work around? Tanamur 53
HI @pritch33 I used to have an HP Media Center m7160n tower. The TV tuner card also had an FM radio tuner that worked very well in XP Windows Media Center. Specifically you could not play the TV and Radio a the same time. I don't recall it working in Win 7 Media Center and I no longer have the computer. I don't see a manual for your tuner card on the mfg website. Here is the link for the PDF manual still online HP Media Center m7160n that does walk you through the radio tuner setup: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00385551.pdf It may be of some help. Cheers, Tanamur EDIT: There seem to be a few more slightly dated articles here - http://www.hack7mc.com/2010/05/moving-windows-media-center-radio-presets.html http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/01/bringing-shoutcast-radio-to-media.html http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/08/bring-thousands-of-radio-stations-to-media-center-with-radiotime.html Edited August 18, 2014 by Tanamur
Cheesegeezer 3087
Shoutcast Radio MCE plugin was always good for me. Requires Internet for streaming. Not sure if it's what you're after Here is the link to download http://en.mcetools.de/Download/tabid/103/Default.aspx Some stations stream in AAC audio so make sure you have the codec. Hope this helps
WarrenH 16
Win7 media centre works fine with radio if your tuner card supports an adeqauet frequency range - no need to install anything, just select Radio from the MC menu, you can preset channels and they appear as sortcuts on the MC menu
pritch33 5
Thanks for the replies guys. @Cheesegeezer, not looking to stream my radio but will keep it in mind. @Tanamur, I will take a look see if I can find anything of use in the links you posted. @WarrenH Media center is not recognizing I have a radio tuner although it does tune in the twin TV tuners that the card has. as for the frequency range. I am in Australia and would need to google our frequencies but the tuner I think is AM/FM and DAB. The radio works fine out of Media center, so i know it is working. If anyone has any other suggestions they would be greatly appreciated Also I just remembered something? Recently I was reading something that media center has a limit to how many tuners it can run. Can anyone confirm this as I currently run 2 dual tuners one of which has the radio. could this be a problem?? Thanks Ray Edited August 19, 2014 by pritch33
mediacowboy 438
Media center does have a limit but it is if I remember correctly 4 of each type of tuner. So for instance you could have 4 qam and 4 fm tuner. Edited August 19, 2014 by mediacowboy
pritch33 5
@mediacowboy I am wondering if it can pick up the radio as a separate tuner from the existing 4 tv tuners (2 tv cards dual) as it is built into one of them? I will try removing a tuner card on the weekend see if it does anything. Thanks all not a major but just would have liked to control it all through WMC Thanks Ray
