AviatorBimmer 28
Hello all! It's been exactly 1 year since my last post and I was wondering if things have changed when it comes to transcoding HDR 4K movies. A year ago, it was best to keep an SDR version of a movie for sharing with friends who might not have an HDR set at home; and a separate HDR version for those that did have a HDR capable TV, due to how HDR transcoded movies were not handled properly. It's very tedious to say the least, to maintain 2 separate libraries, one for SDR and one for HDR. So, is it safe now for non-HDR viewers to be able to pick an HDR movie and be able to watch it correctly after being transcoded? Thanks in advance and I hope everyone has been keeping safe for the past year!

But only you can make that decision, is tonemapping good enough. 4.6.0.25+ - Transcoding Tone Mapping - Page 8 - Emby Server - Emby Community
