Server Connection (Traveling) Outside My LAN

Hello all,

I have been using MB for a long time now but always connect MBC/MBT clients from within my Home network. I will be traveling for two weeks and would like to connect to my MB server.  I have two connection scenarios;

1) I will have a Roku wireless stick with me (which I have tested on my local LAN and it works)

  • Do I need to do any else besides configuring the roku connection settings (server name IP)?

2) My Laptop running the MBC client.

  • Same question for MBC client, where do I get the server name/ IP address?
  • Are there any settings within MB server that I need to change to make sure I connect from outside of my local network?
  • Router inclomming / port forwarding settings?

Thx

Bw

The biggest thing you'll have to do is you need to set up a domain / dynamic DNS server so that if your home's external IP address changes, then you'll still be able to connect.

Correct, I do not have a static IP address, most home user networks are dynamic.  Do you know or can you provide a reference for instructions on what I need to configure on my network side to make this work?

thx
