Emby Server - Use the aired date of special episodes to organize them

We'll see what kind of traction this gets but, personally, I think there will be too many exceptions where the date the special aired is NOT really where it "fits" in the series.  What we have now is explicit so that you can make them be wherever you want.

Some special episodes lack information in the "Airs during season" and "Airs before episode" fields in the "Special Episode Info" of the "Edit Metadata" window, those episodes are organized in a separate "Additional Specials" section of the TVDB database and they usually lack the aforementioned data, however, they always have an "aired date" that could be used as a second option to put those unsorted episodes into its corresponding position inside the season they belong as long as the "Display specials within seasons they aired in" option is checked in the "Advanced" tab of the media library tab.

Thank you.

Emby can handle this, but you need to do it at hand. TVDB API do not work at all with DVD Order, not even with the specials.

So use the specials for season 1 on a separate folder how Specials 0, then edit the metadada of the special and change the position of the folder, in that way it shows in the right place, bout not into the season.

You can see this very well wit GOT that was a pain in the ass for me to figured out how fix the specials problemgot-dir.thumb.jpg.5eb1b0fa5223073dd6f83bf795751727.jpg

So the big question would be, should all specials without Airs during Season/Airs before Episode (ie Additional Specials) be ignored from Next Up as they do not have a actual position within the Series when one enables "Display specials within seasons they aired in", as they will alway be first?

If Emby devs don't want to fix this using the aired date, then they should be placed at the end of the "Next Up" row to at least have the knowledge that they are episodes pending to be watched.
