belinea 0
Hi guys After searching through forums and google, I'm really confused now. My question is simple. Is it possible display .srt subtitles with a mp4 movie on xbox360 via MB? If so... how?
ebr 15186
This will be a function of playback within WMC/the extender and your codecs. We won't have much bearing on it. Now the short answer is probably no. See this discussion on the old forums (don't post there as no one will answer). BAS may be able to provide more insight. coolspot 18
I'm pretty positive there is no way to get .srt (or other subtitles files) to show up in xbox extender. I've looked into it quite at length and sharky (from sharkys codecs) has come down saying it's not possible due to limitations of extenders.. The subtitles have to be hardcoded into the file, and even then I've had problems getting them working. Often times subtitles cause playback problems in extenders.. It's frustrating. There is a way to use an xbox 360 with srt files however. Playon.tv has their Playon/MyMedia software that supports .srt files....It functions like a DLNA server. That's how I get around a problem if I encounter a show that has subtitles (although I hate having to leave the Media Browser/Center environment to do so.) johnchimpo 7
Hi guys After searching through forums and google, I'm really confused now. My question is simple. Is it possible display .srt subtitles with a mp4 movie on xbox360 via MB? If so... how? I ran an extender with MB for a couple years. Believe I came to the same conclusion, that there was no workaround for soft-coded subtitles.
Solution BAS 225 Posted October 12, 2013 Solution Share Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) There is no way for an external SRT to work with a 360. The subs need encoded as part of the video, which means re-encoding the media. Since its a MP4 I do have a solution you could attempt that really isn't to time consuming besides the final step where it re-encodes the video and that time length is all determined by the video's res/quality and the specs of your pc. You will need 2 pieces of software MKVToolnix http://www.fosshub.com/download/mkvtoolnix-unicode-6.4.1-setup.exe MKV2VOB http://www.videohelp.com/download/mkv2vob249.exe Open MKVmerge GUI which is part of MKVToolnix. Drag and drop your MP4 file and SRT file inside and start muxing. This process shouldnt take long at all, when its done you will have MKV with subtitles inside of the MKV container. Set your MP4 and SRT aside for now for backup purposes. Now open MKV2VOB and make sure you configuration tab looks like this, besides the cache setting of course. Once it does, drag your MKV into the app, and let it do its work. When your done you will have hard coded subs on a finished M2TS file and the video quality of the video should hopefully not have changed that much from the conversion. Deihmos 153
Get a cheap pc for media viewing $150 - $200. It will be much better than using an xbox.
alvarojmt 0
Yes, you can, you only have to use PLEX, and in your PC/Mac open the configuration tool and choose that displays by deffect the subtitle option. Then when you use your Xbox 360 open de video app and chose Plex Media server, browse your media file and when you choose it you will watch the movie with subtitles.
