Browsing photos from 2011 Samsung D Series

Hello again.

Well I returned to MediaBrowser and things seem to have improved for me with regards to DLNA - my Android phone seems to be ok, but my Samsung D8000 still has issues with the default profile - it sees all the media, but cannot play anything and just pops up "Format not supported".

So I removed my entire collection then created a small test share on MB pointing at a single folder of a mix of videos and photos, 41 items so very quick to scan etc. After customising the DLNA profile to remove all transcoding, basically telling MB that all formats are supported I can see and play videos, see photo thumbnails but cannot view them in full and just get "Format not supported". Any ideas as I get the same with the default Smart TV profile? I've attached a log of me trying to view a photo.

FYI - I've tried my media collection with TwonkyServer (my old solution), Home Media Center and also TVersity (I apologise having to mention competitors) and none of them have any issues streaming my photos/videos to the Samsung, the only issues is when my TV doesn't support the format in some way which isn't too often. But any pics/videos I know I can view with these products i.e. my test folder MB will mostly fail with.

Unfortunatley I no longer have access to a Samsung DLNA renderer. I've just invested in a XB1 to be able to do the app for it (once ms releases a sdk) and I can't really motivate the cost of another device atm.

I'll see if I can figure out a way to get access to a Samsung TV in another way.

As always, thanks for the improvements you've provided. I think you're doing enough and it's time some others step up. @@Happy2Play is also doing a great job helping users troubleshoot. If we can find one or two more community members like him we'll be able to hunt down these things easily.

This is one of the videos, with the default Samsung Smart TV profile it fails, but with my own profile without any transcoding this plays without audio which the Samsung isn't supporting so not an MB issue:

Happy2Play

For the video have you tried adding pcm for audio?

I haven't messed with photos but I see your photo issue is discussed so here.

Can you post a copy of your custom profile?

Here's my profile.

I've also now tested this profile on my Samsung F6400 and everything works fine, both videos and photos appear and are viewable, including the video where the audio is not supported on my D8000. Seems one profile for Samsung Smart TVs isn't ideal as their DLNA players differ.

Hi, I've been pointed to this thread from my own where I was unable to get any DLNA content on my Samsung TVs. I revisited MB yesterday and it does seem to have improved in the past few weeks. However, like in this thread my D8000 will not show any full images just the thumbnails, whereas my F6400 works fine.

I've also created my own profile based on the default Samsung, attached, that basically omits any transcoding as it was the only way to get anything to actually appear for my D8000, and to be honest my experience with transcoding has always been poor for various reasons, and I have enough alternate ways to view the few media that I have problems with to not be concerned.

Any news on this or any further info I can give to help sort this problem out? Just updated to the latest but none of improvements to DLNA have fixed the issue.
