Michael1952 1
HI , I an trying to ceate my library files to load my music files to Emby. I am a new Linux user but I have gotten my feet under me as far as knowing how to find the path to my media files. They are at: /home/media/michael/Music 2. Every time I indicate the file path to my media i get the error: The path could not be found. Please ensure the path is valid and try again. I have attached the log files. I hope i have given you enough information and any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Michael. embyserver.txt
Skywayman 7
So if the directory is named Music 2 you may need to check and make sure its not 'Music 2' Ubuntu will not allow file names with spaces. You create them as "Music 2" and in the path its usually 'Music 2'
Michael1952 1
OK thanks for the remark, I changed the name of the drive that contains my music from 'MUSIC 2' to 'MUSIC' and got the same result. In fact any combination of the path ' /media/michael/MUSIC/' throws the same error: The path could not be found. Please ensure the path is valid and try again. I'm really stumped on this one maybe you have another suggestion? I attached the log maybe that will help. embyserver (1).txt Edited December 17, 2020 by Michael1952
mark-in-dallas 86
How are the permissions set for the Drive? Does the emby user have access? If you're not sure, open a terminal and navigate to /home/media/michael then type "ls -l" without the quotes and post the results.

mark-in-dallas 86
Did you grant the "emby" user account access to the "michael" group? If not you'll need to do so with this command: sudo usermod -a -G michael emby. I would also suggest adding the michael user to the emby group. mark-in-dallas 86
Okay, I'm fairly new to Linux too, and far from an expert when it comes to all things Emby, and that one has me a bit confused, because Emby should have created an emby user and group when it was installed. I am pretty sure that's what your problem is, in emby not being able to see the folders, but I don't know how to fix it. I'm sure that Luke or Mastermind11 will be along soon enough though, to get you on the right track. Actually, what you can do for now is to navigate to the emby directory and see what user and group Emby was assigned to upon installation. Your Emby directory should be in /var/lib/emby. Could you navigate to that directory and run the ls -l command again to get the user/group info?

mark-in-dallas 86
Okay, clearly you do have an emby user and emby group. I would try running the add user to group command again: sudo usermod -a -G michael emby

mark-in-dallas 86
Is Emby able to see your directories now? If you didn't add the michael user to the emby group you may want to do so with this command: sudo usermod -a -G emby michael The reason I suggest doing would be to allow you to delete files and/or folders created by Emby, should you wish to do so, such as old TV Series folders and such.
