This is *exactly* why emby should discontinue its "call home" tether.  All lifetime members deserve software that can stand alone and operate in a network that is disconnected from the open internet.  This is not the first time I have complained about it:

It is not a stretch to imagine cryptolocker or bitcoin miners being inserted on emby servers or anything else.

Do you have any reason to think that Emby are using the SolarWinds product that was hacked in the recently reported incidents?

Do you feel comfortable connecting to their forum to talk about it?

The Internet is a scary place wherever you go - so you can choose not to use it, or to assess your own risk using the most reliable information you can get.
