jerrac 4
I've been working on configuring fail2ban today. Which involves watching embyserver.txt. Specifically I have been using `tail -f`. The odd thing is that logs appear to be written in batches. If I cause a bunch of failed logins, the log entries will not show up for (what seems) like around 30-60 seconds. Every other program I've ever tailed writes logs instantly.... Is that expected behavior, or should I dig into my configuration to see what's wrong? If it is expected, is there a way to make it faster? fail2ban really needs logs to be written as soon as possible for it to be effective.... Thanks! Luke 37285
Hi, it just depends. Not every single write happens immediately in order to improve logging performance. It usually won't take very long though.
