Napsterbater 23
Seems this issue may be back? My firestick is having to transcode some HVEC which I think should play direct. Napsterbater 23
Oh, well that is confusing, I compared to a 264 video and 31 was 3.1, so seemed like a simple conversion, but apparently not. Well, hopefully someone can figure out what is going on, because I see no other reason the videos should not be direct playable.

Devs will have to comment more as the log above is showing a profile issue limited to "Main" not "Main 10". So it is a matter of if this information is coming from the device or a dev built playback capability.

Luke 37112
Can you try side loading our standard Android app on the same device and let us know how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.

Sideloaded 3.2.14, it direct played fine. Though unrelated, the UI was laggy. Edited September 24, 2021 by Napsterbater

Napsterbater 23
2 minutes ago, Luke said: Where was it laggy? The video itself played fine at correct frame rate nothing wrong with a video playback itself. But the actual scrolling through the menu getting to the show and basically everything before playback was noticeably slower and just had not a smooth feeling and just like a bit wacky is all I can describe, But pretty much all interactions with the menu were that way. But again the video itself which is the main purpose of this post of course played perfectly fine smooth and direct played. Basically the Amazon beta has a smooth menu and UI, But is not direct playing these main 10 HEVC videos. The Android side load has a laggy menu but plays the videos perfectly and direct plays them. ebr 14929
The TV app probably needs to be more specific in its interrogation of the device capabilities. Right now it is just asking about main 10 and not a specific profile of main 10.
Napsterbater 23
Anything else needed from me right now to help with this? Are we just waiting for devs to correct this? This doesn't really hurt me all that much, just a minor PQ hit otherwise my Emby server's 3950x can transcode with ease, but I know many don't have that luxury.
