What type of media is emby converting in scheduled tasks?

Hello,

I just transferred a giantic set of pictures (150 GB) to my QNAP in order to watch the family pics via emby.

Now a scheduled task started to "convert media".

I am not 100% sure that it is converting the .jpgs (why would it convert these?), or something else.

1) Is there a way to find out which files emby is converting?

2) What is the other scheduled task "transfer media" doing?

Thanks for enlightening me

H.

Hi, whatever media you scheduled to convert by using the "Convert media" feature.

Same answer as above. This transfers the converted result to it's destination.

I have a German installation. What is emby's German term for "convert media" and where do I find this feature?

I lookd around everywhere but did not find a corresponding function.

I assume there is no point in converting jpg files...

Thank you!

I read the article.

However, I do not want to convert my photos. But I cannot find an option to not convert (only options to manage the conversion).

Do I have to convert everything?

You don't have to convert anything. The feature does not do anything unless you actually use it. Are you using it?

That is a good question.

I would say no (I have never intenionally used it).

However, there are two scheduled tasks running wich are converting and transferring hpotos. So appreantly I must have started it somehow.

How can I stop it and prevent it from doing further conversions of this specific folder?

The scheduled tasks are also used by the download features from mobile apps, folder sync, cloud sync. So you could have used any of those features.

I wouldn't worry about stopping the scheduled task. The task is only running because you asked the server to do something that requires it.

So I would instead go to that, and cancel whatever that is. You can check the Conversions and Downloads section of the server dashboard.

Thanks Luke, all looks good now.
I have no idea why the "photo" folder tried to convert its media... Must have been me, but I do not recall initiating it.

However, all good now.

Best

H.
