H3adsho0ot 0
Hello everybody, I moved my emby instance to a new server - since then I can browse emby normally in the tizen app - but it won't start playing (only loading screen is showing up). Emby is on version 4.5.2.0 and Tizen app is 1.0.86. Emby is behind nginx as reverse proxy. Internal and external adress seems right in Emby server app. I can watch all these files in chrome without a problem. Is it probably because the server is not reachable over http? Nginx is upgrading http to https. I attached a part of the log - if you need more pls tell me. Thanks in advance! log.txt

This will be your problem as I don't believe the TV will be able to validate the https certificate, the installed root certificates are limited. Can you configure nginx to not upgrade to https for the Samsung TV user agent string? SamES 891
Every time the issue of https support on Tizen/Samsung TV's comes up (and LG as well) there are problems. I'm not aware of anybody that confirmed that it works. Samsung don't have a list of supported root certificates (I found an old list for LG a long time ago), and there's no possibility to add additional. On the developer FAQ's they have this (badly worded) statement. Quote To transmit encrypted information between Web browsers and Web servers, Samsung Smart TVs support TLS (Transport Layer Security) versions 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2. A TV firmware upgrade can be required to patch the POODLE attack vulnerability. Consequently, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is no longer supported. #tls #transport layer security #ssl #secure sockets layer As far as I know, the level of support/ciphers is not documented so it would be a lot of trial and error. dcol 165
First answer I heard that makes sense. I cannot get any stream to play on a Tizen Samsung and I use https exclusively. maybe I need to offer an http path. Is that really safe to do? If it doesn't matter, then why use https at all?
dcol 165
That was it. http works https does not
H3adsho0ot 0
It seems to be not all about https. It is working now on one TV (have no idea why) but on three other tizen TVs it still won't load the streams. In the nginx log I can only see errors like this (there are multiple when starting a stream): epoll_wait() reported that client prematurely closed connection, so upstream connection is closed too while sending request to upstream, client: "external ip", server: domain, request: "GET /Users/630d4f25ca5747bf94b94a425d8bf859/Items/Resume?Limit=3&ImageTypeLimit=1&EnableImageTypes=Primary%2CBackdrop%2CThumb HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://"server private ip":8096/Users/630d4f25ca5747bf94b94a425d8bf859/Items/Resume?Limit=3&ImageTypeLimit=1&EnableImageTypes=Primary%2CBackdrop%2CThumb", host: "domain" Is there any way to see the logs of emby tizen app? dcol 165
Tizen TV's working here using http. Make sure you select 'Preferred, but not required' in the Emby 'Secure connection mode' network setting. Also check your NAT settings in the router/firewall. I allow both http and https connections now. Not crazy about allowing http, but until this is fixed I have to allow http.

You'll have to submit your own feedback to samsung to accept more ssl certs.
dcol 165
Or, if you know what certs Tizen does accept get one of those. Prime, Netflix, and Hulu uses DigiCert. Get a cert from them and I am sure it will work. Edited December 4, 2020 by dcol

You could contact Samsung and ask what certificates they support, but they may not be willing to share that information.
pir8radio 1292
you are more than welcome to test your TV on my server which uses cloudflare, I have yet to find a device that doesnt like cloudflare's certs.
dcol 165
Samsung won't give out that info. Not going to buy an expensive Digicert certificate just to try out. Did anyone get https to work in Emby on a Tizen Smart TV? If so, what was the cert provider? Edited December 28, 2020 by dcol
