Emby app in Fire Cube TV just won't connect to server...In-Home access.  Logged in to the server in the web and have the ports 8096 / 8920 allowed in firewall and also port forwarded for both.  Please advise if I'm missing something.

Hey Luke...in the Emby app, typed in the local access and message says "error connecting to server".  Both server and the app are in the same network so it should just see the server right?  Tried accessing the server from another browser on the same network and can't connect either.

So the one that works is on the same machine as the server?  That would indicate either the firewall on the server blocking communications, or the IP address is not correct.

both ports are opened in firewall - 8096 / 8920 - but the LAN IP address showing in my dashboard won't connect on other browsers on the same network and app

checked the canyouseeme.org and the port 8096 is opened but 8920 is not...can this be the issue?  If so, 8920 port is allowed in the firewall so what is the issue?

Hi.  The issue would be in the Firewall software on the server machine.  It sounds like you are looking at port forwarding on your router - which is not in play for local LAN access.

Are you positive that is the correct IP address for the server?

already tried the connection troubleshooter several times - external connection works.

This is the ip for LAN shown in my dashboard - http://192.168.1.29:8096 - and able to connect from the same machine but no other browsers in the same network

When you connect from the same machine you are doing it with that exact IP address or 'localhost'?

If you look in your router port forwarding - what is the internal IP address being forwarded to?

portforwarding is to reserved ip  192.168.1.29.

able to connect using both IP address and localhost on the same machine

Something has got to be blocking the traffic from the other machines then.  Make sure there are not blocking rules in your firewall specifically for embyserver.exe.

all embyserver.exe are enabled....is there something else that needs to be looked at?

@cayars can jump on with you and take a look at what's going on.

@petsav73 as Luke mentioned, this might be easier if we do a remote session with you to try and help you get things straightened out.

Send me a private message if interested in doing this and we can arrange to do this today or schedule it for when you have time.

BTW, port 8920 won't work if you haven't set up a certificate which is optional.
