Port forwarding for Emby on Raspberry Pi 4

I cannot get connected to Emby on an external port no matter what I do.  Below are what I've done.

Forwarded 8096 for both TCP/UDP on my router.

Created DHCP reservation for Emby server on my router.

Allowed all network traffic in iptables.

Tried DMZ.

Online port checker says 8096 is closed.

Even tried connecting to my VPN and forwarding 8096 through them.

Emby works perfectly on my local network, but I've never been able to get it to work externally.

Thank you all for your time.

well if 8096 is reporting as closed it's not an emby issue and likely an ISP issue.  find a port your ISP allows and use that.

My ISP was probably lying, but they did say they don't block ports when I asked.

Would that affect me not being able to connect even when I put my server behind my VPN?  I opened 8096 in my VPN too.

No.  Can you see the connection attempt in your access logs on the pi?  If not, it's not even making it to the pi so the problem is upstream.
