Hey

I just linked emby to my google home and found that chromecast are not supported.

I understand that Google don't give you full controle with there current API.

I was wondering (as a possable work arround) if you could add another API to emby server that could start the emby chromecast session directly from the local emby server.

Then you could say "Ask MB to play ..... on <Chromecast Name>

Which would run the API on the server to connect the session on the TV

I love using emby,  and this is a featuer that I would use most and probbly other. (if it was possable).

If you don't have the time to do this sort of thing,  please let me know as I will try and put something togeter my self and publish as a plugin if needed.

Thanks,

Adam.

Chromecast has been supported by Emby for a long time.

Google Home is supported by Emby as well.

I believe you can say something like "MB play Top Gun on Chromecast" or similar.

I've got a Shield TV which functions as a Chromecast and this works.

You can likely get much better help with this type of thing if you post in this section:

Oh ok... when I was setting it up I noticed that it said

  • Chromecast is not compatible due to limitation by Google at this time.

I didn’t actually try to cast to a chrome cast from google home but I will do tonight after work.

This may just need editing on the website:https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001161655-google-home

Thanks for you help!

Well it says it's not supported very clearly there so while Emby can cast to the Chromecast it likely can't be done via Google Home.

My "Chromecast" is actually my Shield TV (emulation) and I can play to this but it's likely not doing it via Chromecast.

Sorry for any confusion I might have made.

Is your "Chromecast" the real thing or a device that can emulate one (like the Shield TV)?
