Guest
IFTTT (If This Then That) is a powerful tool that lets you connect the API's from over a hundred different services. The basic idea is that you can set up a "trigger" from one service that causes an "action" on another service to execute. For MB, this could open up many possibilities using notifications from the server as triggers. Another example could be setting up the lights in your living room to dim automatically when you start playing a movie. Using MB as an action could let you create some creative triggers for scheduled tasks (i.e. run a task automatically when you leave your house). They support API key passing (this is what MB uses right?), so the service should work with the existing MB API. Their website is here: https://ifttt.com/

Guest
I believe they hook up with partners on a case-by-case basis. You can send them a partnership inquiry here: https://ifttt.com/platform, but I think one of the MB admins should probably submit that

ryantiger658 5
Just stumbled on this through Google. I actually was wondering if there were any plans to connect Emby to IFTTT so that I can use triggers from emby to dim my Hue lights. I know in the past people were working with the HUE API's, but I figure IFTTT integration could actually do everything that I am looking to accomplish. On top of that having IFTTT integration might actually be good marketing for Emby. I know I use tools that I found through IFTTT that I wouldn't have stumbled upon before. If there is anything I can do to help with this process, let me know!
knight09 3
With home automation becoming the new trend in todays tech savvy world can we look into this topic once again? IFTT integration would open the door to an ever expanding market of IoT devices. Let me know if there is any way I can contribute to this, from what I have read an Emby stake holder will need to submit a partnership inquiry. It sounded like snazy already tried this but maybe give it another shot IFTTT has come a long way in the last few years. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1dlH6aA2nXQ4EWfQbxHKueHvfyulFPmInkjk7PabUxF8/viewform With IFTT integration we could do so many things like Ryan mentioned with automated lights but there are so many more possibilities. You could set up a IFTTT recepie that would trigger when your favorite tv show comes on and turn on the TV, change inputs, start up Emby and silent everyone's phone in the room... We could automatically pause the movie when the door bell rings or food timer goes off. Obviously I could go on and on...
Luke 37099
we can definitely fill out the form but we could use some community help building a plugin for it
julianb 38
This would be great! IFFFT would fix the need for the hue plug-in and slot if other devices. I would also love to see an IFFFT integration with the TAGS, like: If TAG=Atmos then run harmony command "Yamaha straight" and Dim Philips hue. The possibilities would be enormous There is so many things you could do!

chef 3746
TADA! I will build the plugin. I have knowledge in plugins, channels and home automation. Lol. I have to read about ifffffft because I don't know anything about it. I will get back to you.

When you're done, submit the plugin to our Plugins github repo and i can help maintain it.

speechles 1920
@@chef https://github.com/IFTTT/connect_with_ifttt_auth_sample You can copy most of it right out of the examples to make the ifttt channel receive commands to send to the server. chef 3746
bit offtopic but would be intresting to know are there any stats available ? Lol. IFTTT wanted a sign up to develop a channel for their platform. I wanted to see their side of things. That was one of their questions. Lol. chef 3746
Posting out emby events is not an issue. The issue with ifttt is where to post them. It would be great if they had some kind of rest based API to attach events. then we can just handle sending out events to ifttt. But, documentation for any ifttt API comes from their side, and they want quite a substantial amount of money for opening it up. Any thoughts? Can't we just use the IFTTT maker channel and send web requests from emby server when playback is startet, stopped and paused? https://ifttt.com/maker We could have an plugin that could send web requests for spesific "tags" too, so it could trigger different actions based on "tags & playback state". (If your new plugin supports web requests (HTTP) it could work for this too)
