ScifiContinuum 1
I recently started using 4k x265 HVEC files and some play flawlessly and others shudder a lot and even often cause Emby to force close. I can supply any info needed, just not sure what to supply. I am running the most current AndroidTV version and the most current Emby server version and Emby app version on the NVIDIA ShieldTV Hardware, I am running the following: Server: i9 9900K 32 GB DDR4 Ram Windows 10 - 1909 Emby Server 4.4.3.0 Wired Gigabit connection between NVIDIA Shield Pro - 2020 AndroidTV 8.1.1 AndroidTv 1.7.92g The following is the specs of a file that will not play smoothly: 4k Video Title4K HEVC CodecHEVC ProfileMain 10 Level153 Resolution3840x2160 Aspect Ratio16:9 AnamorphicNo InterlacedNo Framerate23.976 Bitrate40,795 kbps Video RangeHDR Color Primariesbt2020 Color Spacebt2020nc Color Transfersmpte2084 Bit Depth10 bit Pixel Formatyuv420p10le Reference Frames1 Audio TitleEnglish TRUEHD 7.1 (Default) LanguageEnglish CodecTRUEHD Layout7.1 Channels8 ch Sample Rate48,000 Hz Bit Depth24 bit DefaultYes Audio TitleEnglish AC3 5.1 LanguageEnglish CodecAC3 Layout5.1 Channels6 ch Bitrate640 kbps Sample Rate48,000 Hz DefaultNo Subtitle TitleEnglish (Default Forced PGSSUB) LanguageEnglish CodecPGSSUB Resolution1920x1080 DefaultYes ForcedYes ExternalNo Subtitle TitleEnglish (PGSSUB) LanguageEnglish CodecPGSSUB Resolution1920x1080 DefaultNo ForcedNo ExternalNo Containermkv Size44161MB
speechles 1920
CodecPGSSUBResolution1920x1080DefaultYesForcedYes It is your subtitles more than likely causing this. When these are "Forced" or "Default" the player will make use of them. You can login as your user on Emby server and change the subtitle mode. Then whenever you want subtitles you must manually enable them.

ScifiContinuum 1
I am getting another NVIDIA ShieldTV Pro. It should arrive tomorrow. If so, I will test the same setting on it to rule the it network issues. All connections are 1Gbps to a managed 24 port switch with no vlans or QOS set up. ScifiContinuum 1
Thanks for all your help! Figured it out. Pioneer AVRs have a kind of hidden setting for 4K HDMI. They can be set to Enhanced or STD mode. Enhanced mode is what is needed to get everything working properly! This is also on some Onkyo AVRs. Also need to be the newest firmware. This will also fix 4K HDR for Netflix, Amazon and Disney+.
