Etag

How is the ETag calculated?
Is it updated every time an item is updated/saved?

Also I have a list of Episodes and it looks like ALL their ETag's are the same

This does not sound correct or an I doing something wrong?

It's currently using date last saved into the database, so that's probably why it's the same for the episodes. Try using the metadata editor on one and just clicking save, and then it should return a new value.
