Im trying to set up SSL with my domain that is (trying to) forward to a DDNS that my router generated. I have TPLINK router that generated a xxxx.tplinkdns.com DDNS link however I am unable to get cloudflare to forward my domain to it. the A name will only accept an IP formatted value (no links) and CNAME isnt' forwarding either. Any help?

I use cloudflare with a DDNS setup, but I use my own domain name.

then I use a DDNS feature in my router along with DNS-o-Matic to update the IP with Cloudflare if it changes.

I'm not sure if you can use that domain with cloudflare unless tplinkdns will allow you to go in and adjust it to point to Cloudflare.

It sounds like you also have your own domain?  If so, you should create an "A" record called "dynamic" that points to your WAN IP that your ISP gives you.  Then, you can create subdomains that will forward to your home address

I used information at the following two links to get mine set up:

Here is a clip of what my DNS page basically looks like on Cloudflare

domain.net is my domain name.

"dynamic" is the A record that points to my WAN IP from my ISP.  It's also what I use to trigger an update if my IP changes for some reason.

"subdomain" is a CNAME that points to dynamic.domain.net which translates to my IP address.

So when a user goes to "subdomain.domain.net" cloudflare redirects it to my WAN IP which is then redirected to my server from my router.

yeah i'd just buy a domain name.  get one from namecheap for like $2/year.  not worth trying to jump through all the hoops imo.

Just to report back--cloudflare didnt work for me. I got my domain on namecheap and CNAME point it to my tpslink dns. Then used ZeroSSL to make a certificate. Used openssl to convert the cert, Pointed emby to the file, told emby to use 443 port for https NOW mydomain.com has https:// !!!

long journey but worth it! thanks guys
