Problem with audio on MKV through headset

Hi,

i have a problem with emby when i play it with emby droid on my videoprojector.

In fact if i use a headset the voice are only on the right speaker not on the left.

The mkv is correct because if i play it through vlc for example with my headset i have the voices on both speakers.

What is the issue ? is it related to the fact that the mkv is 5.1 or 6.1 encoded ?

thanks

Can you please describe all the components and how they are connected?

Is the incorrect channel mapping on all media or just some?

Well it's an xgimi h2 with Android 8 integrated. I use emby for Android TV to watch movies through wifi n. The sound is ok with the projector speakers but with the headset the voice channel is only on one side.

What do you mean by incorrect channel mapping? I just play the mkv without any change on emby or the mkv file.the only thing is that it's a 5.1 mkv file.

Hi.  What kind of headset and how is it connected?  (BT I assume?)

Are other sounds spread properly across both sides?

Is the app audio setting on Auto or mix down?  Whichever one it is on, can you try the other?

Have you confirmed that the projector is outputting the sound properly with other content?

is it just one file that has the issue or all MKV files ?

if just one, then I'd imagine the file is the issue - VLC is simply adapting the audio while emby is not.

a 'MediaInfo' extract of the Audio section of the file would also be useful to determine the audio encoding.

This is interesting:

channel_layout=unknown

How was this file created?

Can you play these same files on the same device through the same headset using any other media player and they play correctly?

The app settings are accessible from the "cog" icon on the app home screen.  The audio setting is under "Playback".

@@ebr - using the same ffprobe command line - I get the channel_layout=5.1(side) for DTS and AC3 but for EAC3 mine also says 'Unknown' (but plays/maps just fine), so I'm not sure if that is the issue here.

With vlc everything works fine for all the mkv files. The problem is still here event with the changes in the playback settings.
