K1ng_Lear 196 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) Hi there, would it be possible to implement the feature that allows me to modify the transcode buffer in the GUI. Currently the buffer is bending between 2:00 min and 1:40 while throttle is active. I wish i could set the bending range e.g. to 4:00 to 5:00 by myself. Thx for considering Edited April 13, 2020 by K1ng_Lear

Thx for considering You can modify the "puffer" yourself already by editing the encoding.xml file in the config folder under programdata. In the file you need to find the Throttle"Puffer" setting and change it from 120 secs to whatever you want. K1ng_Lear 196 Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 Oh c'mon Mark, stop puffing about... By the way, in my language it were correct. 2
K1ng_Lear 196 Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 Oh, i can't access the file, because I run the server on a Synology DS. So, this isn't a solution and I will mark it as unsolved.

Then you're going to have to SSH into the box. The file you're looking for, should be in /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/ I'm doing this from memory, so I could be wrong, but I think there's a config folder there. I always have Nano installed on my Syno boxes so I can just nano the file 1
K1ng_Lear 196 Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 Ok, I SSH to the syno but i can't find anything related to the emby server. I am just not deep enough in the linux structures and commands. So I will specify my request a little bit more: " ... would it be possible to implement the feature that allows me to modify the transcode puffer over GUI." Thx

Dont give up, explore. The file will be there somewhere. Krs Mark 1

Thx for response and I found the file. 2. I am on a mac so I use the terminal tool. 3. I can't modify the file, because it's write protected. (see screenshot) EDIT: Forget it. When I go root it works. P.S. Do you know how the throtle hysteris works? What does the written 8 means? Edited April 13, 2020 by K1ng_Lear
maegibbons 1284 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Not sure what you mean. Does it matter? Does it work? Krs Mark Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk
K1ng_Lear 196 Posted April 13, 2020 Author Posted April 13, 2020 The larger buffer works like expected. Still the buffer is refilled every 15 sec and the hysteresis setting is at 8 sec, so I don't get it how this works.
maegibbons 1284 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Well you want the buffer to be full! If its filling the buffer thay means your system is transcoding way above real time which is good news. Plenty of CPU to spare. What problem in terms of playback are you experiencing? K1ng_Lear 196 Posted January 16, 2022 Author Posted January 16, 2022 I want to bring up this request again. I would prefer that the CPU throttel kick in after a time I set. Altering the puffer in the settings would be really convenient.
