What I mean by my question is, lets say I have 2 version of a record stored.  On is a 10 bit hevc version and the other is a normal h264 version.

Q1. does it see 2 different versions of the same record.  i.e. does it record that it has access to both

Q2. If I only allow direct streaming / playing, will it use the "best" one it can direct stream.  i.e. i I'm playing on an old machine that can't decode hevc, it will choose the h264 version, but if I'm on a machine that can, it will choose the hevc version.

The first question it will be yes next to video above play button you should see a drop down arrow letting you choose which version of the video you want.

2nd i am not sure but if your system doesn’t support it will transcode the video now which version of video it will use to transcode I don’t know don’t have anything to test but I am sure somebody else with reply.

Hi.  The answer to both is yes if what you are talking about is a video file.

You have to follow certain conventions, however: Movie Naming
