Constant buffering after 4.4.0.40 on DS218+

Hello everyone,

 

I just updated emby on my DS218+ to Version 4.4.0.40.

The NAS was always struggling with hardware transcoding, and I could never get a satisfying result. So I simply used the software transcode, whenever necessary, and it worked just fine. 
Unfortunately, this is not the case anymore, since I updated emby. Maybe you guys can help me out with this. 

 

The problem occurs on basically any file, even when it's not 10bit.

Check out the transcode logs, I can add more if necessary.

Hi, this example is burning in subtitles, which is a very costly process and probably too much for the 218 to handle.

 

Can you try turning the subtitles off before playback and see how that compares? Thanks.

Looks like you were right. Without subtitles, even the hardware acceleration works just fine. 
I have to say, thats rather unfortunate, since 99% of my content comes with much needed subtitles. 

I added another log without the subtitles. 
Is there anything I could do about this?

Yes, there is something you can do. Instead of playing with the web app, why not try our mobile android or iOS apps?

 

Or for a linux desktop app:

These can all handle PGS directly without the need for transcoding.
