dwayneem 0
What are the minimum hardware requirements for Emby Server in order to use the Live TV and DVR functionality? All I could find on hardware requirements was the information in the Wiki which doesn't seem to have been updated in 10 years. Core 2 Duo? I tried with a system with the following specifications: Intel Celeron N3350 Processor (yes, this processor has Intel QuickSync) 4GB DDR4 RAM Gigabit Ethernet But the performance was unbearable. 10 to 20 seconds to change the channel. Viewing live TV all broken up and pixelized, with lots of green parts, but fine when viewed using the HDHomeRun software. Is Emby server doing something silly like transcoding the MP2 stream from the HDHomeRun to some other codec before showing it? Also I thought that I read that Intel QuickSync doesn't work in Emby server on headless systems? Is that true? Headless or not, Emby Server on my system doesn't seem to be using Intel QuickSync when transcoding. A better question - Why is transcoding happening, no support for the MP2 stream from the HDHomeRun ? @ @@cayars Edited March 9, 2020 by Luke
Guest asrequested
We first have to start with what devices/apps you are watching Live TV on.
Spaceboy 2500
Probably transcoding mp2 due to deinterlacing. Personally I just accept it and let it direct play. Looks fine to me
Carlo 4331
Emby Server will do what's needed to support the client being used. So it could send the stream essentially the way it came in or could transcode the video and/or audio as needed. One of the best upgrades I've found is a solid state hard drive for temp space used by Emby. Small solid state drives are dirt cheap these days. So can you tell us what clients you tried to play back with?
