I am thinking of buying Dune HD Max 4K and would like to know if the Android app would work as an Emby server client on Dune device?

Thanks in advance

Yes. Since the Dune devices work with Android before buying it, I was wondering if anyone could know if I would work with the Dune. (Dune devices allows you to install app in the same way as in cell phones)

Wouldn't the Android TV app would be the correct choice here over the regular Android app? (since this is a TV set-top box)

Looking at the product page it appears it runs Android 7.1 which is sufficient for the Android TV app

If for whatever reason the Emby app didn't work on it, you could also use Kodi paired with EmbyCon or Emby for Kodi

Thank you very much, I will try what you say when you buy the device. But what amazes me is that no one has encountered this doubt when Dune devices are very popular.

You'd probably be better off with Nvidia ShieldTV or MiBox 4s.

Why Dune?

Because I have read that the benefits of the Dune HD Max 4K model are incredible and the people who have it are delighted.

Its not a very popular unit and the reviews dont look that great on avforums of previous firmwares. AND they are not cheap.

A shield would be a better bet IMHO.

Thanks maegibbons,  I'll take a look at the shield. I am interested in the Dune because it plays the ISO's, has HDR and plays 3D SBS or A / A on non-3D TVs,

and I have read that it is one of the best firmwares that exist, in Europe (at least in Spain) they are very popular but expensive.

Well you could get the Dune and try Emby on it. If it fails to deliver emby wise you could get a Shield as well or a cheaper MI box which also works well. 4k Firestick can handle most Emby media.

The app android file.

Hi

You install the AndroidvTV app from the playstore like other apps.

There is also a TV apk download from the beta release notes post in the Testing Forum

Thanks a lot maegibbons,

It said to install the application through USB because I think the Dune device will not offer me to install Emby but Plex.

Ok i thought you wanted the android mobile app, sorry. That apk is on the website.

Well he may need to resort to that because looking at the box spec it is Android 7.1 rather than Android TV.

He should be able to, you cab install the Emby Android TV app directly from the play store on a regular Android device

maegibbons , I have finally returned the Dune because it has 2 disk bays that I would never use and I bought the Zidoo Z9S Mini PC. I am very happy with it because I have installed the Emby application that you told me from the Testing area and it works perfectly with Google Shared disks. I wanted a player like this to play the ISO's discs that does it perfectly from the native player that it carries, a pity that the Emby app does not play them so I have to exit the Emby app every time I want to play an ISO. It is a pity that Emby developers do not solve this.

Thank you very much to everyone for your help.
