somy 24
Hi, Just to understand in which scenarios MBS will transcode. I noticed for browsers, MBS always transcode even though the content is in the same PC. What about PC clients (XBMB3C or MBT) and mobile devices in the same LAN? What are the rules determining whether transcoding is necessary? Thank you!

somy 24
it depends on the requirements of the app playing the content Hi Luke, How much computation power is needed for max. two client with transcoding to 1080P content? Does it use GPU for transcoding or CPÙ? Will a dual core Intel i3 Haswell be OK for the job? Thank you! BTW, which part of MB is based on Java? I saw you also need Java developers, and I happen to know about Java. Edited June 24, 2014 by somy
Koleckai Silvestri 1150
It is a CPU locked process. Media Browser uses FFMPEG libraries for transcoding purposes. You would have to test an i3 but it is probably sufficient. Transcoding doesn't normally take the duration of the video to complete. You can reduce the need for transcoding by providing H.264 video and AAC audio options for your media. Either in the same container or as alternate copies of the media in the same directory.
