Bakers 1
I am working to build a new server. I have plenty of video streams (some up to HEVC 4k). Currently my old i7 (from 2012) is keeping up but it is time to upgrade. I am looking at: CPU: Ryzen 5 3400G OS/Transcode Temp Storage: Crucial 1TB M.2 Drive Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Gaming X Ram: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16 GB (2x8GB) I intend to use the AMD propitiatory driver to enable hardware transcoding, but I am curious if I can support 2 max HEVC 4K streams? Do you think this has the horsepower? Thanks
Bakers 1
Sorry I should clarify, the HEVC will be transcoding (streaming to my phone when on the road and other users devices.
Sammy 739
I am very pleased with the performance of my Ryzen 3700x. I can have transcodes going all while processing 4 recordings using MCEBuddy from mpeg2 to HEVC simultaneously while only using half the cores/threads leaving a considerable overhead so there's no buffering whatsoever. I do use a GTX 1060 6GB thanks to @ .
Bakers 1
Does that mean you get that transcode performance from the GTX 1060, or from the 3700x?
