Hardware affect remote streaming?

I have Emby installed on a QNAP TS-451+. Currently my internet is only 15 down 1 up. I'm looking to upgrade my internet to 70 down 10 up through my provider.
I know 10 up will be good enough to stream remotely, but will my hardware impact it in any way, and would I need to convert my media

Certainly 10mb will be easier on your hardware than 1mb.  With 1mb upload your Emby server will almost always need to do transcode to "squish" the video/audio streams down to fit the small pipe size.  With 10mb you have a much better chance of direct streaming and much better quality for the client.

How much impact this will have on the Emby server when transcoding will depend on your setup.  On your Emby server does the CPU have to do all the work or do you have hardware transcoding?

In any event, your hardware should perform the same or better.  There is no downside Emby wise to upgrading to 10mb.
