eNoize 0
Recently, the server has been showing only thumbnails as the primary image instead of the usual movie poster. I've tried everything I could think of, from restarting the server and refreshing individual libraries to literally a fresh install of the server. Can anyone help on how to fix this or suggest maybe what I'm missing?
Luke 37064
Hi, do those items have poster images assigned? Have you used the image editor tool to see what images they have?
eNoize 0
Just went through a few of the folders, and no, for some reason, there are no poster images assigned. When using image editor, only the logo and thumb have images, but the primary poster image is missing.
Luke 37064
Hi, so did you try assigning a movie poster to one of them using our image download tool?
eNoize 0
Yes, I can still manually assign a primary image to each folder, but that is far too time-consuming because the server has done this several hundred folders.
Luke 37064
Hi, so try refreshing the metadata on a parent folder, or in Emby library setup on your entire library. If you just added these titles within the last three days then you could find the server log from that time and we can see why it did not get a poster. You may want to double check the settings for that library to make sure that you didn't turn anything off that might have caused this.
eNoize 0
I'm currently refreshing from library setup, and it seems to be working. What went wrong appears very random, some folders from a couple years ago while others are from that last couple days. I've checked the settings and everything that should be on is on. It's weird. Luke 37064
Ok, well all we can do is speculate about what might have happened. It could have even been a MovieDb problem at the time you added these titles. If it happens again with a new movie, then we can look at it in detail to see why it didn't get a poster. eNoize 0
@Luke Now, a new problem reared its ugly head after refreshing the libraries. It seems the server is creating metadata is different languages for the genre folders. I've already made sure the server should only download in English, have refreshed the libraries and even restarted the server, but it doesn't help. Any suggestions? Luke 37064
Can you please go over a specific example ? Thanks.
Happy2Play 8282
That would suggest media actually has those genres, Have you clicked on those genres and checked the media within them?
eNoize 0
Like in the picture above, the server is creating genre folders Romanian like "Acțiúne," Malay like "Aksi," Italian like "Aventuri" and a few others in Sanskrit. When clicking on the actual media within each of these folders, the metadata is downloaded in those languages. I'm trying to figure out where in the server that's happening. Happy2Play 8282
Do you save metadata with Media? If so what does the language tag show in the nfo?

What metadata providers are enabled on this library? I don't know. I'm letting the server make the genres, and it somehow keeps designating in different languages. I have everything set to English for metadata and subtitles. Even when editing manually and refreshing, the server again designates in different languages in spite of all the files being in English. The providers are The Movie Database and The Open Movie Database, and I also have the Emby XML plugin. How can add IMDb to the providers list? Luke 37064
You can't add Imdb. It's not a free and open data service. So you have xml files. Where did they come from? Emby does not write xml metadata.

Emby stopped writing xml metadata a long time ago and the plugin only reads your existing xml file. So if you make any changes to metadata via Emby it is only written to the database and could get replaced every time the xml gets read. I would assume every item in those foreign language Genres has a foreign language tag. I have seen this in my MCM provided metadata and having Emby do fetching also. I just used Notepad ++ and find and replaced all language that was not set to English.
Luke 37064
Yes I'll bet the language tag is the problem. @@Happy2Play, if most xml users are using xml metadata to import from MCM or MetaBrowser, then should we just stop reading the language tag from xml, seeing as how those two apps are using it for a different purpose? In the end it really comes down to if the user users uses xml metadata in addition to having Emby providers also. I have not figured out or asked at MCM about why it gets a foreign language tag from TMDB or possibly IMDB when it comes to some media. I will have to do some additional testing on this as to see if I can find a test example again. Pretty sure we have had similar discussions on this. Maybe have the xml plugin ignore Language it may read and have any additional refreshed provider metadata honor Emby language settings. Assuming this is the issue here.
