carramba 0 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 (edited) hi When I play movies using both web app(two computers) and tv app(sansung tizen client) there is no subtitles displayed. Tried to switch subs, to disable and enable again, to stop and start playback but no effect. I also have xiaomi mibox with androidtv and it works flawlessly, subs are displayed with no problem web app playing log: ffmpeg-transcode-5e9302f4-c299-47ba-b467-203e60515db3_1.txt tv playing log: ffmpeg-transcode-5ef5d764-4cca-4e5f-bc06-1130c83e67a0_1.txt servr log: embyserver.txt when I play on mibox there is no playing log and one more thing: all this happened recently, few days ago everything was ok (well, tv app had sometimes problems but web app not) Edited December 2, 2019 by carramba

Yes, I updated to 4.3.1. still same problem, both in samsung tv app and web app. For now I gave up and trying to get releases with external srt sub file
theghost31 4 Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) Hi Not sure, if it's related to an other issue but @@carramba, do you use the limited bandwidth OR do you need a transcodage to read your movies / tvshow ? In the log, I saw that: Bitrate exceeds DirectPlay limit So I guess yes, try to read them without transcodage if it's actually the case . Otherwise, forget my answer Edited January 5, 2020 by theghost31
cptlores 23 Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 (edited) I just noticed the same problem today. Using server 4.3.1.0 there are no subtitles shown in the webplayer, if the video is transcoded. But if the video is direct streaming then subtitles show just fine. Same results regardless of if subtitle extraction is turned on or off. Edited January 6, 2020 by cptlores

Yes, I can confirm, when I unticked "allow video playback that requires transcoding" in user settings, subs seem to work ok. As for most cases, I don't need to save bandwith it is a nice workaround. Thank You.
theghost31 4 Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 (edited) OK @@Luke, do you know if this issue with subtitles about transcodage is fixed for soon? You're welcome @@carramba, it's a workaround as you said but in my case, it's a little bit ennoying because my users can't use emby without using the limited bandwidth ^^. However, Be careful, did you uncheck directly the settings from the user? The transcodage is not only for bandwidth! It's used to read blueray ou some others files which can be in h265 format or even with some subtitles under the ASS extention ect. The browser don't know how to play these files so you need an auto transcodage. If you uncheck it from settings, the user will get the message "no flow are available for this stream" something like that because you don't allow emby to transcode in the aim, to be able to read your movie '). Yes, you're right, some files won't play, fortunatly, in my case only a few. Another workaround is to download separate srt files but sometimes thera are no subs at all or are out of sync, to correct one is no problem but hundreds... There are also dubbing or voice over audio tracks but some people prefer original audio with subs
