huenemeca 0 Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Hello, I am new to Emby and trying to get some movies setup to run on at least my Roku3. I can't seem to get the movies to play on any client though. The movie appears to want to start but then stops. In the logs it shows a socketException but no other info. Here is that part of the log and I have attached the full log 2019-10-21 18:20:24.227 Info HttpServer: HTTP POST http://mediaman:8096/emby/Sessions/Playing. huenemeca 0 Posted October 22, 2019 Author Posted October 22, 2019 (edited) This log was from using the web interface. The roku app I am using was downloaded yesterday. It is version 3.0 build 175. I just tried it with the Roku player and it did show an error this time. I attached it. embyserver.txt ffmpeg.txt Edited October 22, 2019 by huenemeca
huenemeca 0 Posted October 23, 2019 Author Posted October 23, 2019 I tried using the emby android app and had the same problem. It also produced a couple dozen ffmpeg log files. I have attached the new log files. embyserver.txt ffmpeg.txt
mastrmind11 718 Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Looks like ffmpeg is crapping out. Are you able to play this file using a different player like VLC? Have you tried to a fresh install of Emby?
huenemeca 0 Posted October 23, 2019 Author Posted October 23, 2019 I have tried it in the web player, android app, roku app and the roku media player app. They all have the same problem. If it doesn't try to transcode the file then it just starts and immediately stops. I have tried using handbreak to transcode the file with different options. Always has the same problem.

No, I mean have you tried to play the file not using an Emby client... with a standalone app like VLC. There are lines in the transcode log that implies the file is corrupt, and there are lines in the server log that suggest ffmpeg is crapping out. If you can play the file in something like VLC, it would eliminate the theory that the file is corrupt, which would then point to ffmpeg and Emby as the culprit. Does this happen w/ every file or just this one?
huenemeca 0 Posted October 23, 2019 Author Posted October 23, 2019 I can play the files on my windows machine by just double clicking. It is happening for all my mp4s I can play an avi file which seems to transcode fine.
Solution huenemeca 0 Posted October 24, 2019 Author Solution Posted October 24, 2019 I uninstalled the Linux Server and switched to windows. It works great on windows.
huenemeca 0 Posted November 5, 2019 Author Posted November 5, 2019 I was not. I was connecting directly to the server.
