FemoTheDon 0
Hello guys, I have just installed emby-server on my fedora server # lsb_release -aLSB Version: :core-4.1-amd64:core-4.1-noarchDistributor ID: FedoraDescription: Fedora release 29 (Twenty Nine)Release: 29Codename: TwentyNine as directed on the website: # dnf install https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.2.1.0/emby-server-rpm_4.2.1.0_x86_64.rpm When I opened this in a browser http://localhost:8096/ it fails. I assumed it was the firewall, I opened it still no joy. On checking the status is failed and starting or restarting it doesn't do anything. # systemctl status emby-server.service● emby-server.service - Emby Server is a personal media server with apps on just about every device. Luke 37099
Hi, this means there's some kind of permissions problem preventing the server from being able to write to it's own data folder. It's failing because it can't even create a log file. Over the last couple months there have actually been one or two reports similar to this. Let me see if i can find one of those topics. @@mastrmind11 might recall.
FemoTheDon 0
Thanks a lot. I'm guessing i will need to chown some locations to emby:emby? I will await your reply as said earlier
riothamus 51
Hey, I run Emby on my Fedora 30 server at home. Do you have SELinux running as well? Nevermind, I see you have it in /opt, SELinux doesn't really care about that directory. Check the permissions on your /opt/emby-server directory, and on your /var/lib/emby directory. FemoTheDon 0
Hey guys, i remove and reinstalled it back again and for some strange reason, it appears to be working okay now and running and the install has setup permissions properly itself # systemctl status emby-server.service ● emby-server.service - Emby Server is a personal media server with apps on just about every device.
