(Which supports HDR10+)Will the Emby app play HDR10+ files on this device?e.g - I have a mkv HDR10+ rip from the movie Alien, Currently on my nvidia shield, the file just plays as “hdr”, but not hdr10+. (And I understand that is a Shield TV limitation)Was wondering if the new fire tv cube & Emby would play the file as proper hdr10+ Thanks in advance. psybertech 33 Posted November 10, 2019 Share Posted November 10, 2019 I just stumbled across this yesterday and today. I have the second Gen FTV Cube and it will not play HDR10+ videos. It starts the video fine, no errors, direct playing, audio works but the screen is black. Strange. I tried the same files on the latest FTV 4K Stick and it plays fine. I tried it a few times, and different videos, but here is one part of my log file that shows the start and then stop after about 7 seconds. Backed out of the app, restarted Emby server, launched the app and then started the movie, let it "play" for about 20 seconds and then sent the log less than a minute ago... ebr 14912 Posted November 11, 2019 Share Posted November 11, 2019 Hi. Unfortunately, the log doesn't contain the start of playback due to a bunch of other "noise" in the Amazon environment. Can you please force close the app, then restart it and play the item just long enough for it to start playing and then back out and send the log from the home screen? Thanks. I tested out x2 MKV (HDR10 plus) files on the new Fire TV Cube. - file 1: The Wizard of OZ (same file as member: psybertech above) - file 2: Alien The files played fine on the Fire TV Cube. And my TV even displayed the HDR10+ logo. TV - Panasonic 55FZ802 OLED I've attached some pics for reference. Now we just have to determine how to tell when the equipment doesn't support it and also that it exists in the media. psybertech 33 Posted November 13, 2019 Share Posted November 13, 2019 FYI: I wanted to mention this again.... my fire tv 4k stick plays the same HDR10+ files fine from Emby. (as Direct Play). I thought it was odd the stick worked but the cube didn't because I believe both devices support the format. My TV is a Vizio 4K SDR (model d50u-d1)... so no HDR at all, and I haven't had issues with HDR for the most part (just with washed colors, sepia and harsh gradients from Emby on Apple TV for all HDR... but no issues with quality with my FTV devices).
