Cant seem to find how to enable thumb images for the main media screen on Roku.

Seems to only want to show a primary image with no option to switch to thumb...

Hi, are you talking about the app home screen? We don't currently have options for that, but it's possible for the future. thanks.

You must have used Blue Neon Night on Roku. It allows this. The official Emby app does not.. yet.

The official app only lacks this because we haven't had time to get there yet and keep consistency.

The other apps have this so consistency dictates that the Roku app needs it too. We need this on our tracker. I checked and we never have had anyone request the ability to change between poster and thumb. So first off lets get it on the tracker. Then internally discuss and give it priority. Thanks for reminding us that everything in Blue Neon Night isn't there. There is the "Also Watching" as well we lack that Blue Neon Night has but that is on our feature tracker (issue #79 [Request] "Also Here" missing). Oddly the poster/thumb preference isn't. Lets put it there.

Ah man. The firestick app is sooo much cleaner.

The difference is the API the devices use.

Android has a vastly superior API to write code with. So much off-the-shelf goodies that are open source for the taking. You don't need to build much from the ground up. Android allows off-the-shelf javascript library code to be used which allows "plugging" javascript into your code. It makes it possible to build your own Video Player or import MPV codebase, or etc...

Roku has a custom API to write code with. Barely any off-the-shelf goodies that are open source. You must build 99.9% of things from the ground up. There is no javascript library. There are few pre-built components. It is not possible to build your own VIdeo Player or import MPV codebase, or etc...

In other words on Roku it is a completely different game and it is difficult(but not impossible) to be as awesome on Roku as it is on Android. It is just harder. I am up to that challenge and Eric is right beside me. ^_^

I strongly disagree with this. I find the Roku app "cleaner" and "more intuitive" and even "more stable."

Once they added the ability to show a synopsis while browsing "Next up" (optionally in the Roku beta app) the Roku app jumped ahead of all other apps for general functionality and usability.

The Fire, and Android in general, is just kind of clumsy and the interface feels "jerky."
