Wow Amazon delivered to me on a Sunday of a long weekend!

Just about to setup the firestick now.

Goodbye Xbox one!

When I use the remote to speak with Alexa, then ask it to open emby, it says it can't find my server information. Any ideas why?

Opening the app from the home screen is successful.

I found the answer. When you open the Alexa app on your phone you can link the Emby account.

Okay.

That should be added to the response when it errors out.

"I cant connect to your server. Open the Alexa app to link your accounts".

That's gotta change soon.

You're saying you got this message out of the box without even doing anything?

Yes,

afterwards I opened my Alexa app on my phone and there was a notification to link accounts. But that was by chance, there was no prompt to do so.

Out of the box, I had to voice search for the Emby app. Too bad it was more prominent in the list of possible apps on fire TV.

Once installed, I was able to get access to my server right away, by clicking the home screen card, however asking Alexa through the fire TV to open emby had the response mentioned above until stumbling across the account linking.

You did NOT install our Alexa skill?

Can you tell us exactly what the message said?

No, I have written my own Alexa skill to control emby.

The message said "I'm unable to connect and get information for your server".

Or something similar.

It didn't give any other information about what to do next.

I was hoping that by asking to "start emby" the firestick would just start the application, not start a skill.

Sorry, I should have taken a picture with my phone.

The screen that present was black with white writing. In the upper right corner was an Alexa icon with the Emby icon inside it.

The account is linked now, so I might not be able to reproduce it.

I haven't had an chance to test it again after account linking. I will do that next.

Let me know what else I can to help, now I have a fire stick and have created tons of Alexa smart home and custom skills.

If you didn't install our skill then whatever response you got was not ours - it was some sort of stock response from Alexa.

It might take some training for the device to understand when you say "Emby".

Why would it reference "your server" in a stock response? That's either scary or cool, not sure.

Using the phrase: "start emby" now opens the app without issue.

Just noticed another app called "ambi" and the same screen opened up from the mis-recognition. So it is indeed a stock error message.

That is interesting. I might mention it to Amazon that the message should refer the user to the Alexa app for account linking.

The Android TV app is great! I do miss the layout of the theater sometimes.

I should also mention that streaming wirelessly to the fire stick at 89Mb/s is fine! I was worried that because my Xbox one was a wired connection I was going to experience crummy streaming but I don't!

Fantastic work team!
