Hi there,

I know it's a recurrent issue but I didn't find a solution yet.

At this point, my local server is working fine and I can connect.

However I can't connect to my server remotely (out of my personal network). The weird thing is that I can connect to the public IP when connected to my personal network, but it doesn't work out of my place.

What I have did:

  • Set up the port forwarding (and reboot rooter)
  • Add the firewall's rule to allow 8096 port
  • Turn on/off firewall to see if that affects somehow

Any other clue?

Thanks!

Hi there, welcome. Please check out our Connection Troubleshooter:

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Connectivity

Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed and which ones do not. Thanks !

Sure:

  1. In-Network Connections: is working properly
  2. External Connections: doesn't work:
    1. Locate Your External Address: No problem
    2. Test Your External Address: Doesn't work out of the network
    3. Setup Port Forwarding: Done
    4. Verify Public Port: "Error: I could not see your service on 81.57.89.189 on port (8096)

The weird thing is that the Public IP (81.57.xx.xxx:8096) actually works when connected on the same wifi, but not out of the network.

Thanks for your help

I managed to fix it by setting properly a static ip, i.e. specifying a default gateway and it works :) thank
