raerni 0
Hi everybody I have started using emby a few weeks back and set everything up with the official synology package. After the first start of the emby package I added my tv-shows, music an movies folders and scanned for media. all tv-shows and all of my music was found without any problems. But no movies had been added.... Despite searching the forum and the internet in general I was not able to find a solution and therefore decided to post my problem in the hope that some specialist might be able to help me to add my movies to emby. All my movies (approx. 3000) have been scraped and enhanced with meta data with tiny media manager on a windows computer. All access rights should be set correctly. Plattform: Synology 2411+ with DSM 6.2.2 (latest version) Media folders: /volume1/music /volume1/video/TV Series /volume1/video/HD Movies Media structure: music is sorted in folders based on the first letter of the artist name and then album name (e.g. /volume1/music/A/Adele/Adele - 21 (2011)) plus some misc or genre folders for compilations Tv shows are sorted in show name folders containing season folders with the single episodes (e.g. /volume1/video/TV Series/Band of Brothers/Band of Brothers - Season 01) Movies are sorted in genre folders containing either collection folders or single movie folders (e.g. /volume1/video/HD Movies/Adventure/01.Indiana Jones/Indiana Jones - Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981) or /volume1/video/HD Movies/Adventure/A Knight's Tale (2001)) Log Entry when searching for "HD Movies": 2019-06-13 06:39:32.624 Error LibraryMonitor: Error watching path: /volume1/video/HD Movies *** Error Report *** Version: 4.1.1.0 Command line: /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/releases/4.1.1.0/EmbyServer.dll -package synology -programdata /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var -ffmpeg /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/ffmpeg/bin/ffmpeg -ffprobe /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/ffmpeg/bin/ffprobe -ffdetect /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/ffmpeg/bin/ffdetect -restartexitcode 121 Operating system: Unix 3.10.105.0 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True User Interactive: True Runtime: file:///volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/3rdparty/netcore/2.2.1/runtime/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 4 Program data path: /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var Application directory: /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/releases/4.1.1.0 System.UnauthorizedAccessException: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '/volume1/video/HD Movies/Science Fiction/01.X-Men/X-Men 7 - Apocalypse (2016)/extrathumbs' is denied. ---> System.IO.IOException: Permission denied --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.IO.Enumeration.FileSystemEnumerator`1.CreateDirectoryHandle(String path, Boolean ignoreNotFound) at System.IO.Enumeration.FileSystemEnumerator`1..ctor(String directory, EnumerationOptions options) at System.IO.Enumeration.FileSystemEnumerable`1..ctor(String directory, FindTransform transform, EnumerationOptions options) at System.IO.Enumeration.FileSystemEnumerableFactory.UserDirectories(String directory, String expression, EnumerationOptions options) at System.IO.Directory.InternalEnumeratePaths(String path, String searchPattern, SearchTarget searchTarget, EnumerationOptions options) at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.RunningInstance.AddDirectoryWatchUnlocked(WatchedDirectory parent, String directoryName) in /source/corefx/src/System.IO.FileSystem.Watcher/src/System/IO/FileSystemWatcher.Linux.cs:line 438 at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.RunningInstance.AddDirectoryWatchUnlocked(WatchedDirectory parent, String directoryName) in /source/corefx/src/System.IO.FileSystem.Watcher/src/System/IO/FileSystemWatcher.Linux.cs:line 445 at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.RunningInstance.AddDirectoryWatchUnlocked(WatchedDirectory parent, String directoryName) in /source/corefx/src/System.IO.FileSystem.Watcher/src/System/IO/FileSystemWatcher.Linux.cs:line 445 at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.RunningInstance.AddDirectoryWatchUnlocked(WatchedDirectory parent, String directoryName) in /source/corefx/src/System.IO.FileSystem.Watcher/src/System/IO/FileSystemWatcher.Linux.cs:line 445 at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.RunningInstance.AddDirectoryWatchUnlocked(WatchedDirectory parent, String directoryName) in /source/corefx/src/System.IO.FileSystem.Watcher/src/System/IO/FileSystemWatcher.Linux.cs:line 445 at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.RunningInstance..ctor(FileSystemWatcher watcher, SafeFileHandle inotifyHandle, String directoryPath, Boolean includeSubdirectories, NotifyFilters notifyFilters, CancellationToken cancellationToken) in /source/corefx/src/System.IO.FileSystem.Watcher/src/System/IO/FileSystemWatcher.Linux.cs:line 306 at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.StartRaisingEvents() in /source/corefx/src/System.IO.FileSystem.Watcher/src/System/IO/FileSystemWatcher.Linux.cs:line 77 at Emby.Server.Implementations.IO.LibraryMonitor.<>c__DisplayClass37_0.<StartWatchingPath>b__0() Source: System.IO.FileSystem TargetSite: IntPtr CreateDirectoryHandle(System.String, Boolean) InnerException: System.IO.IOException: Permission denied Source: TargetSite: Thx in advance for your help and please let me know if you need any additional information. best regards from Switzerland raerni
Luke 37994
Hi there, can you configure the permissions to resolve those access denied errors? If those are happening in multiple locations, then that could very well resolve your issue.
raerni 0
Hi and thank you for your quick reply. Also sorry, as I had misread or just overread the access denied error. I had previously tried to fix permissions and ownership via the file manager in the DSM. Now I did a chown to embysvr on my movies and now emby can find them. OMG I feel a bit stupid now. thank you for your help. chown -R embysvr:users "HD Movies" Still a bit confusing though, that I did not have to do this for the tv shows as those worked right from the start.... raerni 0
Ok, I thought everything is working fine, but it isn't yet.... Of my over 3000 Movies, Emby only finds like 20%. As explained earlier my movie collection is sorted in genre folders as follows. Emby so far after multiple scans for new or updated files found movies in the genre folders "Fantasy" and "Musical" as well as my incomming folder "00.NEW". Emby's user "embysvr" is the owner of all folders and files and also has 775 rights on these. Still Emby does not find the movies. What did I miss? Luke 37994
Did you make sure all of the subfolders have the same permissions?
raerni 0
Hi Luke Yes, I set all files (mkv and all other files in a movie folder like nfo, jpg, srt, etc.) to chmod 775 and chown embysvr. I double checked. Funny as it is that was not necessary for my tv shows which got recognized without any problems from the start. I also took a look at the log again to make sure there are no access errors on files. I could not find any. Edited June 21, 2019 by raerni
Luke 37994
So the log is clean now? have you completed a full library scan?
raerni 0
Hi Luke I have done multiple library scans since checking and setting all permissions and ownership of my movie library folders and files. I have done scans for changed and new files and refreshed all metadata but Emby does not find any new movies. you can find my emby server log attached. I did not see anything out of the ordinary at the exception of some port mapping errors that should not be important for my issue, but yet the log is pretty extensive (almost 200 MB unpacked). It would be awesome if I could use emby for all my movies. TV shows and music already work fine. Emby Server Log_20190625.zip
Luke 37994
There's still a lot of unauthorized access errors here, just not as many as before. As a test, can you try setting up a new movie library with a new folder, for example: /volume1/video/HD Movies2 Then adding one movie into that folder. What happens then?
