scooterjes 0 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 (edited) I apologize if this has been asked before but i never could find a answer that didn't involve reencoding the file I have a bunch of video files in MKV format that will not appear in my library no matter what i do I have the attached the info screen out of VLC showing the file info. Also here is the path info I have tried adding the whole anime folder and even seperatly adding just the gundam folder as well D:\nas\Anime\Gundam\Gundam 00 Edited May 25, 2019 by scooterjes
ebr 15339 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Hi. There is no attachment on your post nor enough information about how you have your items named or structured. MKV is definitely supported so make sure you have defined your library according to our supported conventions. Thanks.

scooterjes 0 Posted May 25, 2019 Author Posted May 25, 2019 The issue I am having is the files REFUSE to appear in my library to be played I have tried adding individual folders to my library and for some reason it ignores/can't play those files to be played remotely.

ebr 15339 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 And what kind of library did you try to create? That structure doesn't really match anything in our conventions so Home Videos is probably the only thing that will work.
scooterjes 0 Posted May 25, 2019 Author Posted May 25, 2019 (edited) Well I picked I think it was video and 95% of the other stuff was picked up but they weren't mkv files so i figured that was the issue either that or the video files contained in the mkv files weren't compatible. scooterjes 0 Posted May 26, 2019 Author Posted May 26, 2019 oh well I guess it's just not destined to have those files in my library cause I have tried bypassing the whole folder structure as well by adding the folder itself and it still wont see it must be incompatible files and my only option is to convert them thanks for trying to help.

It's almost certainly not incompatible files. Converting the files won't help. Organizing your files in a supported structure and naming convention will most likely correct the issue. I would expect very little of that to match up to anything.

If you don't want to re-organize, then the home videos content type should do the trick for you.

Okay, as defined in the document I pointed you to, choosing that type is expecting a specific structure (or one of a couple) and yours does not follow that. Therefore, the items are not identified as TV shows.
