"No compatible streams are currently available" on first play attempt through web browser

I have recently had a persistent problem where I get the "no compatible streams are currently available" message the first time I try to play a file through a web browser.  If I immediately try again, it works just fine.  My Kodi clients seem to work just fine.

 

I have tried rebooting, cause, well, that sometimes helps.  It did not.

Above is the log snippet where things seems to go south.  Not at all sure what the issue is.  It would be great if someone had some idea to address this.

 

Please let me know if there is additional information that would be useful.  

 

Server info:

Windows x86 based, ESXi VM (2 vCPU Xeon L5638 with 3GB RAM)

Version 4.1.1.0

Shares are SAMBA based

Browsers used: Safari and Chrome

Just FYI, about two weeks ago (i.e. I have no log, sorry) I saw this happen a couple of times also (I was running the then current beta).
