Would be great to integrate that into EMBY, create a library for people to read comics/pdfs/ebooks etc on the emby server instead of just a download link.....

what do you guys think?

Hi, it isn't quite that easy as we have lots of apps and platforms to think about. But hopefully one day books can be a focus and we'll be able to spend more time on them.

I second this motion :)

would be extremely awesome to have EMBY creating libraries for all my CBR/CBZ comics.

Years later, after the original feature request, and nothing.  SUCKS !   😡

My guess is that there is not a huge demand for this feature. I am using ubooquity and komga on my TrueNas Scale server. But my main use for the server is mediaServer and for that I use Emby, so it would be awesome to have those features integrated in Emby that way i wont have to use an external app to access all my .cbr comic books.

this is reality
emby is very reluctant to add new features)

but yes, a manga library in emby, that would be cool,
but we can wait for that for a looooong time)

There is now an OpenLibrary plugin in the Emby Plugin catalog for books, and it supports ISBN lookup.

Please try it out and report your experience. Thanks !

An update to the Emby Open Library plugin has gone out to support lookups using either ISBN or the Open Library Work Id. The Work Id should help make matching easier, although you can still lookup using ISBN. Here is clarification on the differences between Open Library works and editions:
