Scheduled Recordings Not Recording (and other strange behavior)

I'm new to Emby and using it for the sole purpose of recording live TV and watching it on my Roku. My scheduled recordings stopped working recently and I'm not sure what's going on. I have a recurring recording each day at 7:30pm (Jeopardy). Today I pulled up the schedule and to make sure it was recording during the showing and saw the red bar along the bottom of the thumbnail, but nothing actually recorded. I checked my log file and there was no evidence of the recording being attempted. I noticed nothing had recorded in a while and updated to version 4.1.0.26 yesterday, but apparently that didn't work. Live TV seems to be working fine. Have you seen this happen before / any tips?

What are your recording options? Did you set to record new programs only? Show me the record settings in a couple screenshots. Also, where are you getting your EPG data from?

 

I've had this problem before but in Plex, it would never record Jeopardy.

I do have it set to New Recordings only. 

 

I also had the same issue with Plex (Plex just wouldn't refresh guide data correctly / automatically), which is why I switched to Emby. It worked for a while but has been acting up recently.

 

Another strange thing -- a couple episodes recorded for 24+ hours (I've since deleted those). I can send over a log tonight after the episode.

 

I have noticed that a timer / recording was triggered at some point for the episode, but then the recording didn't save for some reason. Here's a screenshot of logs from this morning: https://cl.ly/24f3eefa4103

Tonight the recording seemed like it was working, but when I opened it up later (a couple hours after the episode finished), it turned out only a few minutes were recorded. In the Emby webapp it will only play a few seconds, but when I open the file itself in VLC it plays for about a minute. The file size also seems right in line with that amount of time compared to other half hour episodes. Here's my log from right before the recording to right after:

Thanks for the suggestion, that didn't do anything though -- it still is a kind of skipping, short video. The file is only 285MB whereas a full episode is typically ~3GB. I can also see in Finder that the file was last modified at 7:59pm, which is when the episode ended (so, something did happen when the episode ended -- it didn't just get cut off and then that was it).

How long was it supposed to go on for? Looks like it recorded for 30 minutes exactly as planned:

It was supposed to record for 30 minutes, and it does look like it did there (and in the file itself, which was last modified at 7:59pm that night after being created at 7:30pm). But when I open the .ts file in VLC, it stops playing about 20 seconds in, at which point the progress bar is already ~15% through. At that point it freezes, and then if I leave it for ~30 seconds, the file continues to play for a few frames and freezes again. Seems like the something is wrong with the file itself (which I can attach here if it would be helpful). Could the issue be the signal itself which then affects how the file is saved? When I watch live TV from the Emby web app, it seems fine for the most part, aside from a few skips here and there.

Yes it's possible that was signal strength related. You didn't happen to watch that program while it was recording, did you? That could have given you a good indication.

I didn't watch while it was recording. Yesterday I moved the antenna so I think the signal is improved, and last night's recording seems to be working fine. Thanks for the help troubleshooting, I'll let you know if any more issues arise.
