MisterAngelus 7
I'm using Version 4.1.0.26 and i'm in the process of converting an entire season of a TV show something I have done before and it worked fine.. I have it set to replace original files but after it finishes converting an episode,, it's like it does not replace it the file disappears nothing left in the directory but a bunch of .vtt files does it store the files somewhere then put them all in the directory when it's 100% done converting all the episodes? Luke 37063
Yes it doesn't move them to your media folder until the conversion is complete.
MisterAngelus 7
I just tested it with both ways replacing the media file and putting it beside the original media file and it never placed the converted file in either case.. the only thing that showed up was a .vtt subtitle file what am i doing wrong.. it worked before the update all log files attached logs.zip
MisterAngelus 7
wait apparently it did put it next to the file
MisterAngelus 7
but it never replaced the file when i tried it that way
Luke 37063
You must have selected the option to save it in the media folder next to the original file. That is the default anyway.
MisterAngelus 7
yes that way worked... the replace option did not i have tried three times... unless i did something wrong
Luke 37063
Are you sure you selected it? It seems to be working fine here in my testing. Perhaps the server was denied access to delete the original file.
MisterAngelus 7
It does delete the original file it just does not replace it with the converted file I dunno what it does with the converted file.. deletes it also I don't know I attached the the log file above 3rd post in thread if you wanna look
MisterAngelus 7
Should be evidence in the log of a conversion with the default option of Original media folder, next to original files that worked and one where the option to replace original file is chosen where the conversion is done and the original file is deleted but the converted one is never put in place of the original
Luke 37063
There's not enough logging for me to tell why it wouldn't have been replaced, but i can see in your log file some examples where you did select the option to replace, and some where you did not. I can add more logging, but if you're saying the original file got deleted then that's a little suspicious because the delete doesn't happen until the copy has been successfully completed. MisterAngelus 7
yes that's what i'm saying it finished the conversion deleted the original but did not put the converted copy in place of it... the only evidence of the file was the .vtt subtitle file that gets made during the conversion process no original no converted file
Luke 37063
Ok I'll have to add more logging. I would also consider running chkdsk to look for possible disk failures because as I mentioned, the delete doesn't occur until after the copy has completed. MisterAngelus 7
Ok I took your advise as a test I ran chkdsk and I also moved some media to a different disk and then I attempted to convert from the different disk the latest episode of Supernatural as a test I used the replace original file setting and I watched it convert in the temp directory.. the conversion went fine but again it deleted the original and didn't put the converted one in place of it.. as far as I can tell it deleted also.. the only thing left in the directory was the subtitle .vtt file the default put next to original media works fine and previous version of Emby worked great on either setting I'm a bit surprised i'm the only one reporting this issue Edited April 22, 2019 by MisterAngelus
Luke 37063
In my testing I don't see any issue but I will add more logging. Thanks.
BrettB 0
Hi Luke Can confirm the same experience, conversion when selecting replace original is now resulting in the original and converted version vanishing into thin air. Even looked at deleted items just in case. The only file appearing is the .vtt after conversion is complete. If selecting next to original, then both are there as in original and converted file. Cheers
Luke 37063
I've added more logging for the next release, thanks.
MisterAngelus 7
Out of curiosity is this in the currant beta?... wait you don't release the beta's in a portable fashion like you do the stable release do you?
Luke 37063
It's not in the beta yet, no. The portable beta isnt' on the website but you could grab it here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases
alex.hillebrandt 0
Hi, I guess it's the same issue: I'm testing with premium and the conversion feature, because my setup is not able to play DTS. Everything else like HEVC HDR etc. should be untouched. My converted files are stucking at the temporary conversion folder and are not copied to the source folder. --- edit: sorry, my fault - was some permission problems with the docker... Mattman7 0
Hello. I am in Emby version 4.1.1.0 and I am converting a video to see what kind of file I wind up with. But I am not seeing any kind of conversion process. Is there a location where I can go to check on the conversion process such as how long it will take, or how much time is remaining in the conversion process? Please let me know. I would like to be able to check on the status of the media I am converting. Thanks.
