Is emby right for me?

Hi all

 

I've just joined this group after finding the app on the LG TV Store.

 

I am wanting TV Shows and Movies on my tv, do I need to host these myself or can I use someone else server?

 

In the past, I had a nice collection of TV and Movies but since Netflix/Amazon I lost/deleted everything I had and now I have nothing of my own.

 

I'm also wanting live TV.

 

I'm based in the UK.

The app is only a small part of the overall Emby eco-system.  You need an Emby server to connect to which could be yours or a friend/family's server.

 

Emby essentially allows you to setup your own Netflix/Amazon type system with only the media you care about and non of the fluff you don't care to see.  With Emby you DO NEED to supply your own media.

 

Emby can interface with over the air broadcasts of TV, Cable, IPTV or even Sat (via plugin) TV to allow you to watch and share TV just like local media.  You can even record and setup schedules to DVR TV.

 

I'd suggest going back and reading the main website to get a better idea of what Emby is and then pop back here in the forum to ask any additional questions or to get help.
