Hi

Feel free to mark as duplicate if you think this is too closely related to the other threads on pooling channels. My suggestion for doing has different ultimate goals to the other ones I've found:

 - Suggestion to pool duplicate iPTV or DVB, DVC, DVT sources so they only show up as a single channel

 - Each "single" channel could have multiple sources siting in behind

 - Channel service/sources can be set in preference/priority

 - When you tune/play the channel you want if it hangs or buffers then tuner automatically failbacks to the next source/service until it finds a stable one to play

Most iPTV providers are providing multiple back ups in case a channel goes down or buffers. This suggestion allows us to use the back ups without having to manually edit the XML File.

TV Headend has this type of feature built in already so it can be done :)

Hi, we plan to expand our channel management features in the future to allow you to do this. Thanks.

Thanks for the speedy response.

That's great news - have worked my way through pretty much every live TV solution (TVPlayer, Kodi, PerfectPlayer, TVHeadend, VBox Gateway, Plex....) literally thought I'd never get to completely cut the cord (wife) but Emby has so come close.........she's commented about how "easy on the eye" it is, and "intuitive" the interface for clients are............if I could just get the stability behind the streams without having to spend my life in an XML editor we could nearly kiss goodbye to Sky!!!

Great job on what you guys have done so far only a matter of (not much) time before you overtake competitors!

You probably don't have enough interest but wonder did you ever consider adding native support for VBox (Gateway) tuners?

It's possible. Are they popular?

Not sure levels of popularity, they are basically a HD HomeRun but depending on the box will take DVB, DVT, DVC (and not just OTA or cable) ......That's the box I have........I have a bet with the Missus.....when I finally set the right system up for cutting the cord.....it won't just be as good as Sky Q......it'll be WAY better. Here is the link https://www.vboxcomm.com/

They have strong integration with Plex but Plex dev's don't seem to think customers are an important aspect of a service.......unlike you guys!

I have one more suggestion:

  • Multiline (playlist) support, plugin checks whether a connection is still free, if not then the second line (playlist) is taken automatically. Most Providers have a connection Limit per Line.

Scenario: i have 2 Lines from my Provider, 1 Line have max. 2 Connections. On 1 Line is allready 2 Connections are open. The 3th User opens a Channel. Emby check the first Line, see all Connections are in use and jump to the second Line and open the Channel.

best regards

I would like to have a fallback feature too, after 4 years I believe that this function is not considered as interesting

After switching over to Emby from Channels DVR I'm kind of disappointed that having duplicate channels is not an option. Channels DVR makes it pretty simple.  I was able to create a channel number on the M3U like 13, 13.1, 13.2, etc then It would auto assign or I could manually assign each to the same network channel on the guide.  I think Channels DVR wasn't as reliant on the guide data for the channel numbers and/or vice versa.

I like the idea that if the Devs here we're able to take it a step further and make the channels auto fail over if a signal drops out for too long.  Ex: If Ch 13 loses connection for 10 seconds auto switch to 13.1.

Furthermore, possibly even keep logs on signal loss per channel being streamed then promote and demote the fail over channels based upon the amount of signal loss.

If anything hopefully duplicate channels will be available soon.

Hi, adding to this topic! I think this would be a great feature for users with m3us that offer several versions of the same channel. Thank you!
