ebr 14939
Hi. This isn't new. The Fire has always been limited to 384kb/s for DD.
Batunga 6
Hi. But is this limitation really still required for current Fire TV devices? I'm changing the ffmpeg parameters via a script (which exchanges the ffmpeg executable and calls the ffmpeg executable) so that multichannel audio gets transcoded to 640 kbps AC3 and never had any (audio) issues on the Fire TV 4K pendant and the new Fire TV 4K Stick. Maybe current devices and/or firmwares don't need this limitation any more? An option to be able to disable the limit would be great
Luke 37132
These kinds of things definitely should be periodically re-evaluated. The tricky part though is that it may vary per model. It's just something that will need to be tested again. Thanks.
ebr 14939
And, with this specific item (high-bitrate DD) it isn't like it either works or it doesn't. What happens is you get dropouts if the bitrate is too high. It can be tough to diagnose. We'll review the published specs though. (just checked official Amazon site but they do not publish the bitrate for AC3/EAC3)
