thelangs 2
Trying to figure out the limitations of shield vs W10 with emby theater. I thought if a client (shieldTV) doesn't support an audio format (ie) DTS , or rather the TV it's sending the audio to doesn't support it, that EMBY would direct steam the audio, rather than do a full transcode. It seems all my movies which are in a MKV container with DTS sound are transcoding. I have attached a sample movie transcode and the server log with it. The reason code from the server dashboard is "audio codec not supported" Am I missing something ? Thanks embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-dbd05fc7-fe73-415e-be5b-a79f05483124_1.txt
chali 11
im using shield and mibox/mibox-s all direkt play mkv with dts 5.1 in h265 for me. (rf 22.5 in handbrake) the latest times i do notice that files can transcode is if emby for some reason thinks im using to hi bitrate vs the internet speed, but i have only seen this when im on wlan strange enough (in other words are you using wlan or cable to shield?) //Regards
thelangs 2
Nope, network speed is fine. Emby doesn't transcode any dolby digital movies, just the DTS ones.
Solution ebr 14939 Posted February 18, 2019 Solution Share Posted February 18, 2019 Hi. This is because you have internal graphic (PGS) subtitles enabled. The only way to show them once we have to convert the audio is to burn them into the video. Either de-select the subtitles if not needed or find suitable text-based external subs or choose a compatible audio track. Any of those options will eliminate the need to transcode. Thanks.
thelangs 2
Will it seems all my DTS movies have subtitles on and the Dolby ones are "off'"... How that happened, who knows. Either way, thanks... Edited February 19, 2019 by thelangs
