ebr 14947
Hi. Why do you feel using a network path would cut down on transcoding? It shouldn't have any impact on that at all.
Luke 37153
Correct, it would not impact if transcoding occurs or not, because that decision is based on media format, not the delivery protocol.
kikinjo 169
On windows theater if u have unsupported subs and smb share it will play direct, just wondering why smb is not supported on android ?
maegibbons 1267
This has been asked for several times before. And it has been refused or ignored despite several people wanting it. However, i do agree that it should have little/no bearing on transcoding in your situation. Good luck on your quest in getting this implemented. ebr 14947
It has not been ignored. I have stated on multiple occasions our reasons for not attempting this at this point. It boils down to the benefits do not outweigh the costs at this point in time.

On windows theater, all subtitle formats are supported. Why do you think the subtitles are not supported?

Why do you think the subtitles are not supported? Not talking about supported, many are that's true, meant sometimes subtitle format is not compatible and then you go transcode if its not compatible. Luke 37153
But in theater they are all compatible.
