JaScoMa 33 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Hello.. I've noticed that if I play tv shows in a shuffle mode, later (that day or the next day), the last show in the shuffle will show up as a continue watching. When I finish that show, it plays the next show in the series instead of continuing the shuffle play. Is there was way to continue watching with the episode in the continue watching and shuffle play?
Luke 40077 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Hi, sorry, I don't quite understand. Are you saying you want to save the shuffle play queue and resume it later?
JaScoMa 33 Posted February 15, 2019 Author Posted February 15, 2019 Hello.. ha-ha.. Yes, I guess that's what I was trying to say. If you start a shuffle play, why doesn't the shuffle play continue later.
Luke 40077 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Because that's just not what it was intended to do. You could always shuffle again, or use a playlist.
crusher11 977 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 But if I've chosen to shuffle play why would I want to watch the next episode rather than another random episode?
JaScoMa 33 Posted February 17, 2019 Author Posted February 17, 2019 Do you think it would be possible to add a "Shuffle Play" button in addition to the resume button so if we start a series as shuffle play, we can continue the shuffle play at a later time?
Luke 40077 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 It's not as simple as adding a button because it also storing the shuffled list somewhere. Essentially what we're talking about here is a playlist.
crusher11 977 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Why does it need to stored the shuffled list? It's shuffling, so by definition nobody cares what order it's in. You can simply create a new shuffled list when "resuming" the shuffle, nobody will ever know the difference.

It would simply be re-shuffling the same list which you can already do now.
crusher11 977 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Only by going into the show and selecting 'shuffle'. This is about the 'Continue Watching' section.
ebr 15665 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Some concept of playstate on the list (and the list itself) will still be required in order to know that something should be shown there (and what to show). As Luke mentioned this is possible but currently there is no concept of a playstate on anything other than an individual item and there is no saving of dynamically created lists (like shuffling a series). Both will be required in order to do this properly.
